Drøbak lies on the east side of the Oslofjord, half an hour from Oslo: narrow 18th- and 19th-century streets of small wooden houses, a harbour and an aquarium, VisitOSLO records. On an island just offshore stands the fortress of Oscarsborg. Drøbak is Father Christmas’s postal address in Norway, with Tregaarden’s Christmas House, Norway’s biggest permanent Christmas exhibition, on the square.
