Bygdøy is a green peninsula west of the centre, with beaches, woods and some of Oslo’s best museums: the Fram Museum, the Kon-Tiki Museum, the Norwegian Maritime Museum and the Norsk Folkemuseum, with its Gol stave church. The Museum of the Viking Age is being built here, with opening planned for November 2027.

Bus 30 from Jernbanetorget runs every 10 minutes; in season, Boat Service Sightseeing runs a ferry to the museums.
Go by boat in summer, by bus 30 the rest of the year.
Our advice: give it a whole day, and bring a swimsuit in summer.
